Two pairs of hands are shown on parallel monitors. they have bands on their forearms connected to wires, one pair to a piano, the other to a computer keyboard. Words from a recent news story in the USA are typed on-screen on a third monitor.  When certain notes are played, an electrical current is conducted to the typist’s fingers. When the pianist plays a certain popular tune (‘Barbie Girl’ by Aqua) the typed news story is distorted. the roles are then reversed: the typist’s striking of certain keys causes a physical interference of the pianist’s playing the tune. The artwork is a demonstration of draconian control and interference and regarding disturbing, dystopian current events.

Bio: Jeremy Woodruff is a lecturer in composition and music theory at the Center for Advanced Studies in Music (MIAM), Istanbul Technical University, Turkey. He is a published author on sound art and sound studies and his sound art has been presented in various galleries in Germany and internationally. His concert works have been premiered by ensembles in the UK, Germany, and Istanbul.
